Director, GASP (Glenorchy Art and Sculpture Park)

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced arts professional to work with GASP, an outdoor public art gallery located on the foreshore of the Derwent River in Hobart (just south of MONA).

The Director serves as the chief executive of GASP and reports to the Board. The Director is responsible for the leadership of GASP, its artistic program and stakeholder relations, as well as the administration of the organisation, including governance and statutory obligations.

As a small organisation that has achieved great outcomes, we are seeking a new Director to take the company to its next stage of development. You will have a proactive approach that anticipates opportunities and leverages relationships for greater impact, while identifying and managing risk.

The successful candidate will have qualifications in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role in the visual arts. You will have established competence in financial management, governance and organisational management. Your skill set will include advanced communication, presentation and negotiation skills, demonstrated success in fundraising and grant applications, experience in planning and development applications and art commissions, and a track record of building strong and productive relationships with a board, funding partners and other stakeholders.

Applications to christine@gasp.org.au must address the selection criteria and be received not later than COB 16 May 2016. Interviews will be held towards the end of May. Flexible working arrangements and an attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate. It is anticipated that the appointee will commence as soon as possible.
